Gyandzhabasar … So often call the territory occupied by the city of Ganja and nearby areas. Prior to the beginning of 19 century the Ganja khanate was located here. Except Ganja Samukhsky, Yevlakh, Tovuzsky, Shamkirsky, Hanlarsky, Agstafinsky, Gazakhsky, Dashkesanky, Gyadabeysky, Geranboysky districts, and also one of the youngest and modern cities of Azerbaijan - Mingachevir belong here.

Gyandzhabasar since ancient times was considered as one of the most beautiful and picturesque regions of the country. Here from time immemorial thousands of people from all corners of Azerbaijan were flown down to have a rest or just to admire the marvelous nature because exactly there is one of the most beautiful lakes on the planet, a pearl of Azerbaijan - well-known for Göygöl.
